Even though we aren’t having in-person meetings, many members participated in this outdoor event at the Jeffersonian to either drop off things they need to give or pick up from LNT.
Cuddle Care received 22 completely finished Cuddle Care quilts which are ready to be delivered to the babies and children at Children’s Hospital. We also received 8 more that need to be bound and about 20 bags for Maryhurst.
Cuddle Care received a nice bag of binding and lots of fabric for backing. A backing is matched before someone quilts it, then other members add a matching binding. Several members usually participate in the making of each quilt.
Thanks to Yolanda for bringing in several kits of pieced tops, backings, and matching bindings to be made into quilts.
Bill took home a huge assortment of donations for next year’s LNT Boutique at Quilter’s Day Out. Once everything was loaded into the front seat, back seat, and trunk of his vehicle, there was concern about him being able see out the rearview window to make it home safely! Bill, we are so thankful that you loan us your garage for all our donations!
Mary collects bottle caps and Luann collects plastic bags. The bottle caps are recycled by schools to make tables and benches. The plastic bags go to a group that uses them to make mats for the homeless and to a group that delivers food from their gardens to different ministries. They received plenty of tops and bags!
Mary had thirty quilted tops that were ready to be bound, and they were all taken! Hurrah!
Thanks to Bill, Susan W., Ruthann, Betty S., and Mary C. for organizing the event and for staying at the Jeffersonian from beginning to end to help unload, organize, and load all the things that have kept our members busy over the last few months. And thanks to the over two dozen members who brought and picked up things. Our members are the best!
Piecefully yours,
Luann
