December 5, 2019 – Christmas Dinner

The 2019 LNT Christmas Dinner was full of food, friends, a block challenge, recognitions, show-and-tell, and much laughter.  Thanks to Robbie and the Christmas elves for preparing the room for this big party, complete with holiday centerpieces for door prizes and embroidered ornaments for everyone.

Here are our four Susans.  We also have lots of Debbies, but couldn’t gather them for a picture.

Barbara arranged for us to have a Christmas Block Challenge.  Each block had to be 12.5″ unfinished and have Christmas light bulb fabric from at least half of a 10″ square.  The top three winners got to choose 12 blocks, and the 4th place winner received enough for a table runner.  Voting was very difficult; each block was a winner!

Congratulations to Linda, Debbie, Pam, and CJ for receiving the winning votes!

Debbie and the Cuddle Care Committee were recognized for outstanding work in organizing the completion of over 200 quilts this year for the children at Norton’s Hospital.

Robbie pieced together the Quilt of Valor blocks we made in a summer session and Kim quilted it.  Binding is next, and then it will be ready to be presented to a veteran in a ceremony next spring.

SEW-AND-TELL

Kim

Polly made this quilt using the circle technique Marilou taught a while back.  Quilted by Angelique.

Bill

Debbie made an Origami Dresden Plate wall hanging.  This technique was taught by Susan at a class last year.

Two Debbies completed the Clothesline Bowl Terrie taught last month.

For last year’s Quilter’s Day Out our Cuddle Care Committee made this beautiful quilt for the Two-Color Quilt Challenge.  It won first place at the 2019 QDO, 4th Place at the 2019 Kentucky State Fair, and was juried at the 2019 Fall Paducah Quilt Show.  This quilt will be raffled as a fundraiser for the LNT Cuddle Care charity, and Debbie was prepared to sell tickets after the dinner and program.  Raffle tickets can also be purchased at the Jeffersontown High School Winter Craft Show from 9 am to 3 pm this Saturday, Dec. 14.  After that, check with the nimblethimble.com website to read more about the quilt and to see how to purchase tickets.

Piecefully yours,

Luann
