September 5, 2019 – Reverse Applique

If you attended this year’s Quilters’ Day Out or the Kentucky State Fair, you may have seen this amazing reverse appliqué zebra by Tamila Johnson-White.  We were fortunate to have Tamila share with us at our first meeting in September.  She provided several examples of needle turned and raw edge reverse appliqué techniques, and explained the pros and cons of each.  She also discussed and demonstrated different products used for reverse appliqué, including starch, fusible, and glue.  Everyone went home with a pattern to try reverse appliqué at home.  Thanks, Tamila, for sharing your expertise and experiences!

SEW AND TELL

Angelique used dozens of selvages in this quilt!

Ann Marie’s full sized yellow bordered quilt is full of large pieced flowers.  This quilt won a ribbon at the fair!

Sandy’s husband bought her this Amish Quilt.  The hand quilting was lovely!

These four fish quilts were from Kim’s Fish Block class in January.

More beautiful shared quilts and a pillow and a dress.

Kim and new member Cathy quilted 24 Cuddle Care quilts which members took home to bind.  Nice work, folks!

Piecefully yours,

Luann
