2019 is the beginning of a new year, and we had a large number present for this first of many exciting programs for the year. Kim taught us the colorful “1 Fish 2 Fish Quilt Block”. Thank you, Kim, for your preparations, for teaching the class, and for combining the blocks for a Cuddle Care quilt.
Sashing and binding will be added to the squares we made to create a quilt for Cuddle Care.
Sew and Tell
At our Quilt of Valor presentation a couple months ago, Brenda was impressed by one of the veteran’s dogs. Due to an unknown scheduling problem, the facility was rather noisy and crowded, but the dog was calm and attentive to his owner. So Brenda made a quilt for the dog!! What a lovely thing to do, and it is beautiful!
Many of us have met Susan’s sister, Ann, when she has visited. Ann and four of her friends each did a strip of the quilt shown below, and then it was sewn together. It won 3rd place at the Paducah Quilt Show, 2nd place at the Houston Quilt Show, and was chosen by the American Quilter’s Society for the cover of the 2019 Wall Calendar. Congratulations, Ann!
Pam shared her quilt of a vase of irises. The vase was a panel and she added irises at the top and bottom and matching piano keys along the sides. Nice!
Debbie finished a block of the month she staredt I don’t remember how many years ago, but seems like it was a lot. There’s proof that no matter how old your UFOs are, you can still finish them! Congratulations, Debbie. You are an inspiration to us all.
Luann will be teaching the second class in February, and showed four blocks from the “Wonky Square in a Square” technique she will be teaching.
Our next January meeting will be for Cuddle Care. We will be making quilt tops similar to this one below. For more information on this and other meetings and classes, go to the Meetings tab and click “Programs”.
Stay warm!
Piecefully yours,
Luann
