August 2, 2018 – Happy 39th Birthday Party

Louisville Nimble Thimbles is 39 years old this August, so we celebrated with our annual Birthday Party.  And what a party it was!  Everyone brought their favorite pot luck dish, and there was the usual overabundance of food.  The organizing committee required that a birthday party hat be worn in order to access the food tables.  Quilters are a pretty creative group, and some hats were worn as a bracelet or earring.  The room was cheerfully decorated with Cuddle Care quilts which had been quilted at Quilted Joy and bound by members, and donated books were plentiful throughout the room as part of our theme:  “Quilting Books:  Inspiration to Create!”  Thanks to friends of LNT for donating the books and to Angelique and friends for organizing the party.

Several quilts were shared.

Kim quilted this quilt on her domestic machine!  She had to cut the batting into thirds in order to quilt a section at a time with the sewing machine’s 7″ throat.  Amazing!

This was followed by a spirited game of bingo in which winners could choose any book in the room, and a book sale to raise money for our charity quilts.

The quilt above Kim will be sewn at the Sept. 20 Cuddle Care meeting.  Several members will provide an embroidered holiday center square to be surrounded by holiday colored fabrics.

At the 6:30 meeting on September 6, Susan W. will give a demonstration on using the Double Diamond ruler.

More information on our programs is under “Meetings”.

Piecefully yours,

Luann
