July 19, 2018 – Cuddle Care-A-Thon

This was an extremely productive (and fun) meeting!  THANK YOU to member Angela Huffman, owner of Quilted Joy, who again graciously donated her long arm quilting studio and staff to help LNT members quilt many quilt-tops to be given to Norton’s Children’s Hospital.  SPECIAL THANKS to Debbie Hampton, Debbie Hofelich, Bettye, Janet, and Angela for loading the machines Wednesday evening, having everything ready for those who arrived Thursday morning, and staying late to clean up..  MANY THANKS, also, to those who spent part or all of their day quilting, trimming quilts, cutting/sewing/ironing binding strips and matching them to the quilts:  Angela, Barbara, Bettye, Beverly, Cheri, Cindy, Debbie H., Debbie H., Janet, Jean, JoAnn, Kim, Luann, Sangeeta, Susan C., Susan H., Susan W., and Terrie.  We quilted about 45 quilt tops which, after being bound, will be given to the children.  This group goes over and beyond by donating over a hundred quilts a year to the hospital.

Part of the excitement of quilting at Quilted Joy is being able to see the many beautiful quilts hanging from the ceiling!

Some of our quilters:

We are so pleased that Kim offered to quilt this year’s Quilt of Valor which will be presented to a veteran in the fall.  She created a design of stars and waves, and free motioned it onto the quilt.  This one quilt, due to its size and detailed quilting, took most of the day.  THANK YOU, KIM!

This is what happens when the bobbin runs out with just eight more inches to go!

Our members created this beauty during a meeting last month.  Now all it needs is the binding.

Some of our binding sewers, pressers, measurers, etc.:

And to all the members who have been donating strips and cutting and piecing all year in order for this day to be possible.  THANK YOU!

Piecefully yours,

Luann
