Bring your center block for your Roosting Round Robin project. Remember you can make it any size you wish just be sure it is a multiple of 2. For example, make your block 6", 8", 10", 12" finished (6.5", 8.5", 10.5", or 12.5" unfinished). The RRR project is perfect for all skill levels and because you work only on your quilt, there is no pressure!

March 18- Zip Your Pillow & Diamond Strings Class
The first part of our program will be a demo/lesson by Marilou Jacob on how to insert a zipper and other openings in a pillow cover so it can be removed for cleaning. It is a great way to save space, too. You can have several covers for one pillow form and change them out to suit the season and your mood at the momen.

The second portoin of our program will be the Diamond Strings Quilt Class  taught by Angela Huffman. This quilt is made from all your scraps! Start collecting pieces that are between 1-2 inches wide by any length. Strips that are not of uniform size add more interest to this quilt design so break out those wonky scraps. A good mix of light and darks will help the design as well. If you prefer a more controlled srappy look, bring about a yard of the focus fabric cut into 1.5 inch or 2 inch strips. This quilt is great for beginners and is mindless, meditative sewing at its best.

Other sewing supplies needed:
Your machine and basic sewing supplies
Add a quarter ruler (if you have one)
A Postcard (if you have one) or an index card
Rotary cutter
Small cutting mat (if you have one) to keep by your machine
I like to keep a small iron and small ironing board next to my work area when I'm piecing but it isn't a "must have". Our meeting is from 10am- 2p

Louisville Nimble Thimbles Quilting Group Events for 2010
Quilting Classes, Events, Lectures, Workshops and Retreats
Our quilting group strives to share knowledge and skills with everyone who has an interest in quiltmaking in the Louisville and Southern Indiana area. Our meetings are filled with laughter and freindship.  Please consider joining us!
Louisville, Kentucky is home to the Louisville Nimble Thimbles quilt guild.  Our quilting group enjoys learning more about the quilting world surrounded by friends.  Everyone is welcome to attend our meetings.  If you love quilts or are curious about quilting, you'll love our quilt group!

We have members from all over the Kentuckiana area.  Many of our quilters love that they can attend quilting classes at night after work.  These quilters attend our Thursday evening quilt group on the first Thursday of the month at 6:30pm.  Other quiltmakers like the quiltmaking workshops we have during the day on the third Thursday of the month at 10am.

Which will you choose?  We'd love to have you attend both!  All sewing skill levels are welcomed and encouraged.  Quilters love to share tips and ideas with each other.  Our quilting teachers come ready to take your sewing skills to a new level.

You may also enjoy our Cuddle Care program for Louisville, Kentucky charities like the Kosair Children's Hospital.  We make love covers for the patients during our Nimble Thimble Cover Care Quilting Workshops.  During these quilt workshops we supply all the fabric, batting and lunch.  Bring your smiles, a sewing machine if you have one and basic sewing supplies if you have them.  Mostly, bring a love for sewing and a willingness to help the Louisville Nimble Thimbles Quilt Guild bless our community through quiltmaking.

We'll see you at one of our quilt guild meetings soon, I hope!
